What Is KTP Pen?
KTP, or Potassium Titanyl Phosphate, is a green-light laser treatment used to address certain vascular and pigmented skin concerns. The treatment can be used for concerns such as spider veins, visible blood vessels, rosacea-related redness, cherry angiomas, telangiectasia, and certain superficial pigmentation. Because KTP energy can be precisely directed toward the targeted tissue, it allows for a focused treatment approach while generally requiring relatively little recovery compared with more intensive resurfacing procedures.
How KTP Pen Works
KTP uses concentrated green laser light to target specific structures within the skin. For vascular concerns, the laser energy is absorbed by hemoglobin within the targeted blood vessel. The resulting heat causes the vessel to coagulate, after which the body can gradually clear the treated tissue. For certain superficial pigmented concerns, the laser can target pigment within the skin in a similar selective manner. The treatment is designed to target the concern while minimizing unnecessary exposure to surrounding tissue.
